Materials Management

Objectives of Materials Management Department:

  • Quality Objectives: All materials required for BIOM, KIRANDUL COMPLEX for continuous production at right time, right quality from approved vendors at right cost, and keeping the inventory at optimum level. 

        Storage of all materials ensuring proper protection and preservation as required and ensuring issue control. 

        A) Purchase section objective: To convert the purchase indents into purchase order within the below specified time limits in 95% of the cases-

                i) For all indents (other than RC & depot items)- 180 days,

                ii) For Rate contracts & depot items- 60 days,

        B) Material control section objective: To convert the requirements into purchase indent within below specified time limits:

                i) Annual requirement: within 90 days of receipt of PR,,

                ii) Piecemeal requirements: within 30 days of receipt of user indent.

        C) Store dept. Objective:

                i) To collect material from transporter (RC holder) within 15 days of receipt of LR at stores/ receipt of material at transporter's end,

                ii) To prepare receipt voucher within 7 days of receipt of material at stores and inform the user deptt.,

                iii) Issue of items less than 10 numbers within 1 hour of arrival of indentor. 

  • Environmental Objective: To ensure that all necessary scrap materials are properly segregated and sold to authorised scrap dealers as per statutory requirements of disposal of hazardous waste. On-site storage of used oil is for a maximum period of 90 days. Used oil to be sold to authorized recyclers- 100 KL per year. Used batteries are to be handled as per battery handling rules 2001.
  • OHSAS Objective: To ensure zero mandays loss because of improper handling of goods during inward retrieval and issuance.
  • Social Accountability Objective: In order to ensure the compliance to standard requirements of SA8000: 2014, a suitable clause is being incorporated in all NITs (Notice inviting tenders) which is mandatory for the tenderers to accept that clause.
